The Proposal

My wonderful boyfriend of four years, KCC, finally popped that marvelous question that I have long waited in anticipation for. Yes, he asked me to be his lovely wife, and I most certainly said YES! So this is how my fairytale proposal went down...

KCC and I go to see Christmas lights in a pretty sweet neighborhood in the hills every year. This year was no different. Although, I was being a brat and totally did not want to go (was not feeling well), KCC kept telling me we had to since it was our tradition. Now I am so glad I did!

We arrived and it was a chilly night. We started our trek around the neighborhood of beautifully and intricately decorated homes. We stopped for hot chocolate, pictures, and to observe the homes and decorations along the way. It never crossed my mind what awaited me, or how incredibly special that night would be.

So we finally get to the main attraction of the entire Christmas lights neighborhood. It's kind of like the "centerpiece" of it all, if you will. Every single home on this block is COMPLETELY decked out in lights and insane decorations. I walked in awe up to my very favorite home in the entire neighborhood, just amazed at all the details (which never fail to amaze me, year after year). Then I see KCC kneel down and plug-in some extensions. I was so confused! All I could do was ask him what he was doing and urge him to stop! All my little attorney brain kept thinking were all the causes of actions that could be brought against him (i.e. trespass to land, trespass to chattel, conversion, theft, etc.).

But then...there he was as beautiful as ever, teary-eyed and on one knee. Right then, I knew...this is actually happening! I already knew and all I wanted was for him to stop crying, get up and hug me. My mind was going a million/minute. I completely forgot where we were and all the people surrounding us. It's as if the world just stopped for a second and it was just him and I in this little bubble. My mind kept screaming, "omg this is it! omg! ok...maybe you should listen this is important....omg!" He told me he loved me and wanted to spend forever with me. And the he asked me to marry him. With all of the excitement, confusion and emotion, all I could do was hug him and tell him to put the ring on my finger.

He stood up and said, "So.....is that a yes?!" I burst into a mixture of tears and laughter. We embraced and when he let go our families were there to congratulate us with champagne. Apparently they were following us and taking pictures/video the whole time! I was so confused and awestruck. KCC had made a sign (which he had plugged in) that read: MARRY ME? And had a pianist playing "Here Comes the Bride." Very beautiful, thoughtful details that I totally missed until after. It all happened so fast!!!

It was the very best moment of my life.
